STORY

Our Mission

Aurora Life was created with a clear mission: to shift healthcare from a reactive model to a proactive one, where prevention, longevity, and well-being come first.

Instead of waiting for disease to appear, we focus on understanding the body earlier, deeper, and more precisely, using advanced diagnostics, cellular health insights, and evidence-based longevity science.

Our philosophy

Is rooted in the belief that health is not a moment, it’s a lifelong strategy. With rapid progress in AI, precision testing, metabolic science, and regenerative medicine, we now have the tools to not only detect risk sooner, but to optimize the way we age.

Aurora Life brings these innovations together under one offering: comprehensive health assessments, state-of-the-art imaging, preventive treatments, and restorative therapies that support how you live, perform, and thrive. Every program is designed with a singular goal, helping you extend your healthspan, not just your lifespan.

This is where modern medicine meets intentional living

our origins

Aurora Life was born from vision, and from loss

Gene Thompson was a pioneer who helped shape what healthcare in the Cayman Islands is today. He was also a dear friend of our founder, Karan Dave.

That experience, paired with Karan’s own near-miss, became a defining moment. “We can’t afford to play defense with our health. We have to get ahead of it.”

That conviction sparked the creation of Aurora Life: a center built not to treat disease, but to delay, prevent, and even reverse it, through cutting-edge diagnostics, advanced therapies, and personalized longevity care.

On February 21st, 2023, Gene passed away far too soon after a devastating illness, despite access to the best care money could buy. His story revealed a brutal truth: even the most advanced systems of modern medicine aren’t enough when we wait for disease to announce itself.

About Our Founder

Karan Dave is a global healthcare leader and entrepreneur whose work has helped shape modern healthcare delivery in the Cayman Islands and beyond. With more than 15 years of leadership experience across Asia and the Caribbean, he has built, scaled, and optimized complex healthcare systems with a focus on operational excellence, patient experience, and sustainable growth.

Karan played a key leadership role in the development and expansion of Health City Cayman Islands, part of the Narayana Health system founded by Dr. Devi Shetty. During his tenure, he helped elevate clinical pathways, improve access, and strengthen care delivery across the region. Earlier in his career, he held P&L and directorship roles across multiple Narayana Health hospitals, including the JCI-accredited Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Bangalore and Dharamshila Multispecialty Hospital in New Delhi. He has also collaborated with McKinsey & Company on performance transformation initiatives.

Driven by a belief that the future of medicine lies in prevention rather than reaction, Karan co-founded Total Health in 2020 amidst COVID — now the Cayman Islands’ most comprehensive preventive medical center — integrating specialist care, advanced diagnostics, and preventive health programs under one roof.

Karan’s leadership philosophy blends clinical rigor, data-driven decision-making, and an innovation mindset. He believes the next frontier of healthcare lies at the intersection of biology, technology, and personalized medicine — where predictive analytics, continuous monitoring, and precision interventions can meaningfully extend healthspan.

He holds a Master’s degree in Hospital Administration and an MBA in Healthcare from the Indian School of Business. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
